In your SQL statement, use the ISNULL( Field_Name, Default Value)  For
istance Select ISNULL(Contact_Name, "--") From tbl_SomeTable

I am using SQL Server 2000 as a database and I have a datagrid with 7
columns. One of the columns is the Contact Name which is not a
required field. Therefore, most of my record will have a null or
