hi veena
i think if u change the content type it should work. since if the browser
supports the file type it opens up but if it doesn't ,it prompts the user to download the same.
i think this will solve your problem.
thanks
manish

Nope, after 3 months of fighting we still have not got that right. The
permissions will not allow it. What we did was instead of opening the
document in the browser we just email people a link to the document. This
of course assumes that you are on an intranet with properly set up
permissions.
This is not a good solution, so I am all ears for an answer to this
problem as well.
PS Even macro's struggle with this issue as the document name is changed
to 'document in Internet Explorer' and therefore the macro cannot properly
determine the actual document name to do a SaveAs.

Subject: Saving a word file at client system
Is it possible to save the word document taken from the server which is
already opened in Explorer at the client system.
We should not use macros for this purpose.
Can anybody help me?
Veena
