I'd figure that the word and excel documents are in a folder inside your web
root for which 'NT Challenge/Response' is enables ? Then, depending on how
the user's are identified when accessing the intranet side the box pop's up.
Eventually move them in the same folder as the one for which basic
authentication is enabled. That should fix it.

Hi,
I have an Intranet site which runs in Basic authentication. So , when the
user enters the site, he is prompted for uid/pwd. There are some documents
posted in the server which can be viewed. But when they are clicked for
viewing, NT Login screen appears again. This happens for only word
documents and excel and I have full permission to execute those
executables and also full control over the documents.

Any idea how to avoid this login screen again appearing ?
