Hey,
I too have done the large intranet scenario.
I've never done "permissions" through FrontPage, it sucks and will kill you
every time.
Just go in and add your groups manually to the web directories.
Confirm all domain trusts.
BTW, those FP extensions will eventually stop working (only god know why)and
you'll be too far gone to re-install. SO forget managing anything through
FrontPage.
But if this is a large effort, you're wasting your time anyway.
They'll eventually want to hit if from the outside, then you're dead.
You'll have firewall issues, external accounts , etc..
And with different domains, those people will need to preface their logon
with (DOMAINNAME\username) cuz your web server can only look to 1 domain for
validation.
In fact that may be the issue here. Check your w3logs for confirmation.
Good luck and tyr not to go nuts

Hi there, thank you for replying.
We have two main servers. Until recently one was on FP Server Ext 2000
but because of the problems with permissions we upgraded. This does not
seem to make any difference at all. The other server has always been on
FP Server ext 2002 and this has only just started to misbehave and "lose
its permissions". I can't see any patterns at all in the behaviour of
the webs. So if you have any other ideas, give me a shout.
> i guess you're overriding other subwebs permissions. i think you should
upgrade your extensions to 2002. go to microsoft and read more about it.
it should be pretty easy for you to manage. goodluck! :)
