I don't really know. I usually create my SQL Reports via Crystal Reports in
my front end. For those odd requests from my Directors, I just make a quick
select query and then select all the information in the results pane of the
query, right-click and choose save as - this enables you to quickly save it
off as .csv file which you quickly ammend in excel.

The overall reporting in SQL is not great thinking of visual output, but
combined with a VB front end and crystal reports you can do anything (well
almost...)

Yes I find it really great the only thing is that I'm used to MS Access
since it is almost availble anywhere. But Im switching to SQL as much as
possible :). Is there another environment for creating reports in SQL?

  Enzo :)

No problem - you will never use another database engine/server than SQL
once you are using it.

Which edition of SQL Server did you install.

I disagree somewhat with the reply that the Desktop edition has no
design interface. I had, however the design problem with SQL Server 2000
(Desktop Installation) in that it does not allow you to manually start the
server.

With SQL Server 7 however, I had no problems with database design,
etc.

Please look at the following: Open the Microsoft Folder on the
start menu that contains the SQL information (Shortcuts) - Open the SQL
Enterprice Manager. The enterprice manager will open from which you can
register your current pc as a server and then add databases, etc.

Hope this helped but please do not hesitate to ask more!

Desktop edition has no interface or administration facilities.

I was wondering I have installed SQL Desktop Edition on my WinNT
Workstation, everything is ok except I dont know how to have the environment
where I could see, design and create the tables. Do I miss something during
the installation? or do I need anything?

            Thanks,

            Enzo
