No function is built in. Median is always a interesting part of any advanced
SQL books. Try Ken Handerson's "Guru's Guide ..." or Joe Celko's "SQL for
Smarties" or both.

6 million rows is not too bad, it shouldn't take more then a second to do
the job.

I need to find the median (not mean) of a colomn of about 6 million rows.
I am using SQL server 2000.  Is there a sproc or aggregate that will do
