sql_language thread: Pronoune SQL

Message #1 by "James Gal" <jamesgal160@h...> on Tue, 15 Oct 2002 00:40:58
I said "asp" as in the snake once and all these nerdy-types lauged their
heads off. Very strange indeed.

I prefer "sequel server" so much cooler! I guess.

I was taught it should be pronounced as the three characters 'S.Q.L'.
Everybody else seems to prefer 'Sequel' even though it is the name of a
product for use on the AS400 as an alternative to query. We have this
product on our AS400 and there is endless confusion about which is which

when everybody calls both things 'Sequel'.

I havn't seen it catch on with other languages and three letter
acronymns
for technical talk. 'RPG', 'VBA' and 'ILE' for example? Although I'm

not sure about 'ASP'. I havn't heard anybody say 'Asp' as in the
snake,
but I guess it happens.
