I haven't heard of FOLD and Overlay, probably database specific. Trim
removes leading and trailing spaces from the string, closely related to
LTRIM and RTRIM functions which remove leading or trailing spaces
respectively.
Trim(' hello world ')='hello world'
ltrim(' hello world ')='hello world '
rtrim(' hello world ')=' hello world'
rtrim(ltrim(' hello world ')='hello world'

Subject: [sql_language] Fold, Overlay & Trim
Hi Guys,
Could one of you please be kind enough to explain what the string scalar
functions FOLD, OVERLAY and TRIM do, and how they work. An example or two
would be nice.
Thanks
Mike
