asp_webserver thread: AW: RE: NT platforms and a LINUX platfom

Message #1 by "Neethling, Dirk HTC/DE/EIC" <Dirk.Neethling2@h...> on Mon, 18 Dec 2000 14:26:38 +0100
Better go JSP and Apache, PERL is really a dead-end in the long run.

With

JSP you get all the EJB, JServlets, and even Jini as well. With JSP you

can

also easily switch to Windows and IIS.

I think that you will find that you can easily port PERL scripts onto

windows as well (http://www.activestate.com), the problem at the moment

with JSP is finding a suitable host. I tend to use a mixture of all

these technologies where appropriate so that I get the best tool for

the job, that includes using a PHP, Perl, Python, C, JSP, Javascript,

Java etc. For most technologies these days are portable (some with less

effort than others) between platforms, the key is to pick the best tool

for the job.
