aspx thread: Failure to run aspx files

Message #1 by "Hugo" <hugochiu@n...> on Sun, 7 Jul 2002 07:41:41
My OS is Win XP Pro with the relevant software (like .Net Framework)
installed. To test aspx files, I create a virtual directory ("Testing")
in IIS. The aspx files work normally when I type the following address in
IE:

localhost/Testing/xxx.aspx

However, after I install Dreamweaver, the IE no longer displays the
aspx file with the address above. Instead, the file is opened with
dreamweaver. I uninstall the Dreamweaver to fix it. But now IE fails to
run the aspx files (either displays the source code or just doesn't
display anything) Wish to ask if anyone knows how to solve this problem.
Thanks!

Hi Hugo,

It probably has to do with a file association that resulted from the install
of Dreamweaver. You can check as follows:
1. double click my computer
2. open tools/folder options
3. look for the association for .aspx under the 'file types' tab
4. if it opens with Dreamweaver, change it to open with ms visual studio
.net

Hwever, I'm still not sure I know how you're trying to run the file. Are
you opening ie, then enter the url http://localhost/Testing/xxx.aspx? If
you are, frankly, file association or not, it should run - try a very simple
file, say one which simply displays today's date.

HTH,

Bernie Yaeger
