beginning_php thread: A device attached to the system is not functioning

Message #1 by "Mae Shell" <mae@m...> on Tue, 22 Jan 2002 22:45:00
I'm trying to set up PHP on WIndows 98, and when I try to test out the

installation by running the perlinfo.php file, I get the following

message (displayed in the browser window):

"A device attached to the system is not functioning."

Any ideas on what I should do to fix the problem?

Thanks!

Usually that message is generated when a dll file isn't found or loaded

properly. Have you gotten a base installation to work before uncommenting

any extensions in php.ini?

did you really mean "perlinfo.php" or phpinfo.php? what are the contents of

that file?

take care,

nik

Thanks - I'll give your suggestion a try. I only have one extension

uncommented in php.ini; php_gd.dll, as indicated in the book. I am going to

try putting the ";" back on that one, and see if it solves the problem.

I meant to write "phpinfo.php" instead of "perlinfo.php." The contents of

the file are:

<?php

phpinfo();

?>

Thanks again,

-Mae
