beginning_php thread: Multiple windows using one session?

Message #1 by "John Arbon" <subscriptions@c...> on Mon, 29 Apr 2002 22:02:08
If I store the session ID in a database and then use that entry to
authenticate a client at my site with each page the goes to, if he should
open another browser window (whether by starting a new instance of his
browser or right clicking and opening another browser window that way)
will a new session ID number be created? Because if I program my site to
accept only one session per userid it would not authenticate him for the
second window... thus the question of a new session id for a new window.

Thanks!

Two different scenarios, two answers.

Opening a new window from the same browser instance shares the same session
ID. Opening a new browser instance by double clicking the IE icon or
whatever would generate a new session.
