nt_sys_admin thread: Using a Default SMTP Virtual Server

Message #1 by "Gene Ballard" <geneballard@s...> on Fri, 7 Feb 2003 17:04:52
I am a programmer trying to use A SMTP Virtual Server to send email from
an application on my Windows 2000 Server.
In my VB code there is a statement in which I must specify the name of
the SMTP server to use,
SmtpMail.SmtpServer = refrenceToSMTPserver
When I specify my ISP's SMTP server it works. When I try to use a local
SMTP Virtual server I get an error message.
To start with I don't know how to specify a local SMTP server. If I know
I am doing that correctly then I can move on and determine if anything
else is wrong.
I have tried puting the name of a Virtual Server, mySMTPserver, here. I
tried myComputer.mySMTPserver and myComputer.mySMTPserver.mydomain and
just localhost.
Could some one help me ?
Thanks in advance,
Gene
