proasp_howto thread: creating the newsletter

Message #1 by "Andrew Teoh" <andrew_tbj@f...> on Fri, 16 Feb 2001 08:59:44 +0800
I assume your newsletter is in HTML

to add images just use an ordinary <IMG...> tag as you would in a web page.
But you have to make sure that you use full URLs, and that the images will
be accessible (via inernet or intranet or whatever) to whoever reads your
newsletter.

What this means is that when outlook or whatever package displays the
newsletter, it has to go onto the net and get the images... so if the user
has disconnected after downloading mail then they will get a prompt to
reconnect to the internet when they open the message, and if they cancel
then they get broken links instead of images. So basically my advice would
be to only use images for non-essential stuff... e.g. don't use images for
your headlines.

It would be nice if we could actually embed images within the mail to avoid
this problem. This is possible if you use outlook express to manually
create an HTML message, but I don't know how it can be done programmatically
within an automated process. I presume that some kind of third party tool
would be required.

I've created a newsletter which can post out every week through ASP
using ASPmail. However, i got no idea how to include images into my

 Pls advise.
