You should start by looking at XML.
Out of my own interest, why do you not wish to use databases?

Technically XML *is* a text file, but it contains structure and order so that it's far more useful than a simple TXT file.
Normally, I'd try to provide an answer to the question, but in this case I have to ask why you do not want to use XML? This seems to be a serious step backwards that will create much more work than it is worth or is necessary.
But to answer the question:
Look into the System.IO namespace, namely the File and Directory classes.

Peter I know using XML could be better(but I dont want because I have a program in C++ and I want to upgrade it to .NET)
Peter can u help me again about Sequential files and(against) Random(Direct)files
I dont know how I could work with them(using which classes?)
we had them in C++ i.e in a Sequential file for getting a record you must read all previous records
but in Random Files you can access a record directly
do u know how I can declare such files & how I can access their records
Thanks in advance.
