It seems the solution is missing the ASPNETDB.mdf file and ASPNETDB_LOG.LDF file. Scratch that...the aspnetdb info is in the CMS database. Oh well...

There seems to be a glitch in the installer. When I manually added the CMS directory from the CD, made it a virtual directory and followed the steps starting on page 162 it worked like a charm.

Interesting. What OS are you on??

I tried to reproduce it here, but I can make it work every time, with the installer, a custom VD and by opening the site directly in VWD.

And thanks for the follow up; hopefully other people running into the same issue can make it work like this as well....

I am using Windows XP Professional. I had the same problem with the Blog until I went through the manual process. I did have to delete the virtual directory in the inetmgr. It didn't work until I manually created it, so I think the automated setup does something wrong with the virtual directory that it creates. I have them all working now...except for the survey engine. I am getting an unhandled exception (aw oh) index was outside bounds of array error.

Great. I am glad they are all working now.

I'll try reproducing the behavior with the installer, although that may be difficult, as I have tested the installer on a number of machines and never had a problem.
