Default Photo Album - interesting error

I have an error that I'm a little baffled on, and I'm not sure if it is related to my earlier post, or not, so I am treating it as a separate issue until I figure out where in the file this line is present, so I can change it.

Before I show the code, let me give some history.

I setup a new virtual dir in IIS named "photoalbum", and put the actual files (and updates) from the photoalbum app in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\photoalbum.

However, when I try to load the app outside of VWDE2005, I get the following error, which still mentions d:\websites\photoalbum, which is a directory that I have since deleted and changed from, or so I thought:

Here's the code:

Server Error in '/photoalbum' Application.
Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes to 'd:\websites\intranet' because access is denied.

Source Error:

[No relevant source lines]

Source File: d:\websites\intranet\web.config Line: 0

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.42; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.42

I am not sure where this line is (meaning, what file this is at), but I am guessing my other post regarding the error when trying to upload pictures) may have something to do with this. However, I've changed this configuration and started over, or so I thought, and now I can't locate the file that is looking in this particular directory, so as to change it to the correct directory, so as to hopefully have the app actually work this time.

whew!

Please disregard this post. I found out the problem and am submitting a form for an update in the errata.

Thanks

I thought you might post it from the errata, but sure, no problem.

It was something to do with the upload looking for a particular directory, and that directory not existing. Since I created this app manually from the zip file, and with the directions from the book, manually, there was no step in the book to set that directory up.

I forgot exactly what I did, but I will check my email, as when I submitted an update for the errata, I was asked to fill out a form, and given a ticket number. Once I get the full detail on that, I will post it here.

Thanks

Is that the same problem as described here?

http://p2p.wrox.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=48231

I manually installed the app as well, and I did get the Upload folder (already with a number of images in it).

Hello,
I am able to publish .aspx pages (User.aspx and UserDetails.aspx) on my local machine perfectly, but when I FTP to the remote computer running as my server, I get the below error. I have seen some posts, but I still do not know exactly how to fix this problem. Can someone help?

Thanks,

Server Error in '/Users' Application.

Hi there,

Does your host officially support ASP.NET 2? What about if you create a very simple one-page website with a config file and upload that?

If that doesn't work, you need to contact them to make this work....

Hi Imar,
Yes, I am able to create a simple file w/ it's own web.config file. I also have many other .aspx pages running on that server. I haven't created this page on that server b/c that computer doesn't have SQL Server or VS.
It seems sooooo simple, but I haven't figured it out yet.

Thanks!
Ryan

If the host doesn't have SQL Server, how come you expect the Photo Album to run on it? It uses SQL Server as the back-end database....
