Question Emulator Doesn't Do Anything!!

Hello:

I have just started to investigate Android and happened upon this text, it looked good, so I thought I would try it.

I already had all of the software installed and running (I think) - at least I can write JAVA programs and execute them.

I created a virtual machine based on Android 3.0 - when I started it it began executing (again, I think). I can do various things, like start the calculator. But, when I enter and try to debug the Hello World program, the emulator just sits there watching (?) me!

Can anyone suggest something that isn't obvious that I can try?

Thanks in advance,

Sparky

It could be some of the settings for your emulator or it could just be that your not waiting long enough for the emulator to start up. Even though its on your machine the emulators for android are usually very slow compared to running your app on hardware....even old old old hardware like the g1. Try starting the emulator and letting fire up without starting the app and after a few minutes try running it then. You could try messing with the emulator settings in the avd manager but Im not sure which ones would speed it up any.

Thumbs up Reset adb

Hello:

I don't think the problem I was having had anything to do with the emulator's setting!

Instead, I learned that by reseting the adb (DDMS Perspective | Devices Tab | View Menu | Reset adb) - anytime the application doesn't appear, resetting the adb has worked every time - I only hope that now that I've disclosed this secret, the trick doesn't stop working!!:>))

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
