But is it an error? Are you seeing what I am seeing?

Or do you see different behavior? I still don't know if I understand the problem, and whether you fully understand what happens or is supposed to happen...

I just had another look at the Wrox United web site (had to add www in front of the link you posted) and I am seeing the same thing as I was seeing off-line:

Some categories have no records associated with them, others have a couple of items. I guess that just confirms that the behavior is OK, but that the sample database doesn't contain that many records. That is, after the site went live, people uploaded pictures / galleries to the live site that are not in the downloadable code. All makes perfect sense to me....

Just add a bunch of records to the Gallery table, connect them to different fixtures, make sure you reference existing images and you'll see the exact same thing.

3 things:

1. Are you really sure you're adding data to the database that is really used by the site (what happens for example if you change the name of a Fixture)

2. To what Fixture do you connect these things?

3. What do you mean with "using simple text filling in all the empty gaps"? Are you entering data in the database directly? What table? What do you enter where?

I am afraid I can't help you further. It feels like we're wasting each other's time.

The info you're providing in response to my questions is not enough for me the help you. Please realize, I don't know the application, I don't know you, I don't know your application's setup, system, database and so on. All I know is what you tell me here which clearly isn't enough for me to say something useful.

My guess is that the code works as expected, but that you have a problem with the setup. I think you're mixing up databases, entering data in another database than the one the site uses. Only a wild guess though as again I don't have enough information to make some funded assumptions and suggestions.

My advice: clean up the app / your setup so you know what you're dealing with. Backup everything, delete it and start all over. Then start a new thread in this forum category and provide as much information as possible. Maybe somebody else is able and willing to help you based on the information you're providing.

Sorry it didn't work out.

I've just been notified of this thread so have taken a look at the code. Imar is right, it behaves as it should. The problem you might be experiencing is that the default database didn't have any pictures in it and there is a separate database to download. However you may not have known this since it's not on the C# download page (http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTit...-DOWNLOAD.html), but it is on the VB edition download page at http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTit...-DOWNLOAD.html. Download the additional database and copy the MDF and LDF files in the App_Data folder.

Only one of the fixtures has pictures loaded into it, but you will see them appear.

I'm adding the chapter 7 start database replacement to the C# version download. Sorry for any confusion from not having done that earlier.
