Default Chapter 3 Using the Alert View

I am a newbie at this. I am ultimately trying to make an app on the iPad that does what I created for Windows in a audio specific calculaion program.

I have been working with this book on Beginning iPad Application Development and more than once have been flumoxed by somehow what is shown in the book doesn't seem to correlate with what I am seeing in Xcode.

Specifically, when I type in the code shown at the bottom of page 53 in the book for creating a new View based app named UsingViews, it does compile and open up the simulator BUT, it doesn't open the app. I am sure I had this working once but when I tried to further on, put in the "code snipped" on page
56, I never could get that to work. So, I started over with a new version of the
Using Views and it just won't work.

I surely need some help here!

Thanks,
Bascom King

The project on p. 53 should work. Are you getting any errors in the console when you build and run? If so, they should point to the problem.

Copy and paste your code into a reply and it can be checked out.

Assuming you are using the current version of Xcode (4.3.2), you will find as you progress through the book that screenshots and some instructions will not correlate with what you are seeing, since Xcode has changed substantially since this book was written. I strongly suggest that you find a more recent text if you want to minimize your frustration.
