Default Changing defaultStatus

ch6_example1.htm does not work. Here is the reason, if this thread is right (http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=506429#):

You aren't allowed to change the status bar text by default. However, if you want to change the default options for firefox go to to tools/options/content/advanced and select "change status bar text." All modern browers have this option turned off with the exception of ie6 if you want to call that modern.
