Default Cursors in the book: Beginning Microsoft SQL 2008 Programming

Hi,
I read the book, "Beginning Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Programming" by Robert Vieira. Very nice book with lots of information about newly added features in SQL 2008.
I would like to know the reason why "CURSORS" were not covered in that book? Any specific reason why that Topic was not covered?

Thanks
Padma
