shopping_cart.php in Dosn't work exactly in my browser, I copied it and pasted it in the editor and save it in the root folder, it shows but when I click the addItem or removeItem links, the following error shows :

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://localhost/shopping_cart.php?a...em&productId=3. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

any body knows whats the problem here?

The error is in your link to the database, check how you connect to your mysql database and change the link.

in this example we did not work with databases, we still save the information in the session that is what the example is about, and I am using the book files source code, and the book doesn't talk about database in chapter 10.

sorry for the bumb info yesterday.

The book code I downloaded Works fine on my machine.
I would try downloading the code again, then run it before you make any changes to the code.
