Send Incoming Email

Can anyone tell me the usage of incoming email in SharePoint, what does it mean to send email to Document Library?

Its to upload docs

I think if you send an attachment with a mail, the attachment will be uploaded in the document library as a new document. This is for folks who do have restricted access to sharepoint but need to upload some docs
