Default BatchLogID in Parent Child package

In chapter two, when it mentions the use of parent child packages. Does it mean that only the parent package applied the framework? It's because when the new package (use the framework), it seems that it will treat it as separate package and the time seems be calculated under two different packages as well.
Or I need to find some way to use the BatchLogID to link them together?
Pls advice.

Default

If both the parent and child package use the framework, the BatchID and BatchLogID will link the two packages together. The execution duration is applied to both packages because the parent package is still running while the child package runs.

Jessica
