Listing 5-3 works fine with the provided authors.xml. I changed the authors.xml a little to make it invalid. The code doesn't work right any more. The ValidationEventHandler doesn't fire, instead an exception event fired.

It's working fine for me. When I change au_lname to au_name, I get the following response:

Validation failed.
Validation error: The element 'author' has invalid child element 'au_name'. List of possible elements expected: 'au_lname'.


If you post your code, I may be able to spot the issue in your syntax.
