Default Wireless Software install/upgrades

I know it is currently not possible to upgrade a devices software wirelessly, but possible to install/upgrade 3rd party applications wirelessly. This functionality would save countless amounts of time as I'm sure you are all aware, but does anyone have any idea when this would be made available? Hoping for maybe some inside information:)

Thanks in advance,

Henry

Hi Henry.

If you have BES 4.0 and handheld software 4.0 or later it can already be done.
There is a chapter in my book on how to do this.

Cheers.

Odd... I know you had mentioned applications but I didn't think you spoke about the handheld OS itself... Will take a look this weekend.

Thanks for the reply Craig!

Only 3rd party apps can be installed or upgraded wirelessly using BES 4.0, not the handheld OS itself.
I must have mis-read your original post.

NP, It would definitely be nice to have like a sub OS which would allow just connectivity with the BES for upgrading of the handheld OS itself don't you think? I'm working with an environment of over 60 users (not so many) but each are located between 4 sites and it's tough as you could imagine to rely on remote connections to their PC to upgrade via device manager.

Maybe I should start a BES request thread:) lol
