Default Views not displaying correctly

I've been stuck for a day or so on making the category and product views display. There are functions set in the controller for them, and each page has the appropriate page set in the view folder, but when I click on a link all I get is:
Not Found

The requested URL /cibook/welcome/cat/7 was not found on this server.

I've gone over everything I can think of multiple times to no avail. Everything seemed to work fine until about page 90 of the book.

I managed to fix my own problem. I changed my configuration to show index.php, and now everything shows correctly. I was using mod_rewrite, so there's still the issue of why that wasn't working correctly as I was using the rewrite rules recommended by the book, which are the same one's specified in the CodeIgniter manual, and had left the index config option blank as per the documentation in the config.php file.

Default Try Searching Codeigniter Forums

I had a similar problem when hosting my sites with Lunarpages. I found a solution in the Codeigniter forum section. Others have had similar oddities like that with differenet hosting companies. My problem had to do with suPHP conflicts. To solve it I added this line to my index.php file:
$_SERVER['PATH_INFO'] = str_replace('?'.$_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'], '', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
And it workes now.

it looks like your structure (/cibook/welcome/whatever) is different from the standard one given in the book. Are you running multiple instances of CI apps?

Another thing to look at...I got an email from another reader recently in which XAMPP htaccess and CI htaccess were colliding, he had to rework the XAMPP setup to make htaccess work in CI.
