Hello and help, I feel like I'm drowning. I have (far too) many years of programming experience (C,C++,VB,PHP, etc) and am wanting to convert one of my bigger applications to the web and feel that the DevExpress ASP.NET tools are the way to go. I bought Kimmel's book and have started reading through it but feel like I"ve been thrown in with my clothes on.
Is the XAF like the DotNetNuke framework in that it is a design structure that you hang your components on?
I am now going through the videos, articles and KB stuff trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible.
Are there any suggestions out there or links that will assist in this endeavor?
I'm studying the demos and making changes to the source and then create new projects with the demo code and see what's up and use the book as a reference?
If I worked for somebody I'd have more time but I'm self-unemployed and am hoping to become proficient fairly quickly.

I think I found some life rafts in the video tutorials, but I would still be very appreciative to leverage another developer(s) experiences.

In my opinion, the components are excellent and support on the devexpress site is the same but support for the book is non-existent. I have posted several posta all over and it seems that these posts are not made public. Can't prove it, but I think money (sale of book) is the cause.

Your instincts are good. There is no better way to get a professional result as quickly as possible than using our ASP.NET controls (or otehr controls depending on teh project). Read the book, actually write out the examples by hand and step through the code with the debugger until you get comfortable with what is going on.

Go to some user group meetings and reach out to people. You will be surprised a lot of people are willing to help. Also, watch the videos on our web site and maybe a beginner book on ASP.NET will help too. Reading and writing code is the way to go.

Thanks Paul for the suggestions, I've been working with your book and the other examples via the web site. I guess I'm searching for the brain helmut like what was used in the Matrix.
I know of some ASP.Net user groups and am going to check in and see if I can find some DevExpress groups. I have a friend who was interviewing at a company in Denver and they use Telerik, which I evaluated against DevExpress and a few others, and decided DevExpress was the way to go.
