Question Weird placement issue with Intra Masterpage

Hey guys,
I have a very odd placement problem when using the intranet masterpage.

when i view the site in resolution higher then 1024x768 all looks ok.. but as soon as you try to play around with the size of the browser window, and minimize it the content from MainContent overlap the left nav bar and i cant figure out why... i tried to set the custommaincontent class to be absolute and then use the padding-left to stop it from overlapping which seemed to work good but as soon as i maximized the window again and refreshed i saw that the left nav bar background doesnt go all the way down...

PLEASE guys any kind of help will do.. i'm banging my head with this issue for few good days now :(

Thanks,
Johnny.
