Default Unable to connect to Visual Studio's Localhost Web

Hi,

I just installed ASP.NET Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Starter Kit.

Going through Chapter 1...

p.8 "2. If you are running Windows XP and have IIS installed..."

I am XP, but I don't have IIS, so what do I do instead? by p.28 when hitting F5 I get "Unable to connect to Visual Studio's Localhost Web Server".

I found WebDev.WebServer and start it from a command window and from IE I can type http://localhost/skeleton/TestMenu.aspx and it works OK but from within VWD hitting F5 brings the above error.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
David

By default, VWD should use the built-in Web server when you click the Run (Start Debugging) button. The only setting I can find that you might be able to change is Start Options on the Website menu when you have a Web site open in VWD for editing. It allows you to select "Use the default Web server" which should be the built-in one. Or you can select "Use custom server" and specify the built-in one.
