Default Caution about Privacy

I just wanted to take a moment of your time to discuss your profiles on this site and the information that they give about you.

Here at Wiley we are very concerned with privacy and as such we feel that the information you divulge about yourself on the Internet should always be thought about with the utmost concern.

When it comes to the Internet giving out your e-mail address is always an invitation for more SPAM. While we at Wiley have strict policies about not showing your address to anyone else, there are some things you should be aware of so that you don't give it to others unintentionally.
[list=1][*]If you click the link in someone's profile to send them an e-mail, YOUR email address is used for the return address. This is by design as the idea of e-mailing someone is to take a conversation OUT of the forum and continue it through e-mail.
[*]If you give an MS Instant messenger address in your profile it shows your Hotmail or MSN email address. This is simply a design of the Microsoft IM and passport addressing structure.
[*]Be aware of the website links you put in your profile as they may contain e-mail address that could be harvested and sold to companies that could SPAM you or spoof your address to SPAM others.</ol id="1">While many of you do not care about giving out these small bits of information, we just want to make you aware of what you can do to protect any information you wish to keep private.

Thank you,
