Default Why Dictionary is serializable

Hi
I know that in .Net Dictionary is serializable and I found my own work around in order to solve this issue in my application but I'm very curious for knowing the reason for it.
Does anyone know the reason why Dictionary is serializable ?
Thanks
Amir

Same reason you might need to serialize any other collection -- to pass it over a wire, to a database or web service, etc...
