Default Tab function + <textarea></textarea>

How can I get a tab function to work in a <textarea></textarea> field when a user inputs information - currently the only way that information can be separated is by the space bar?

But when I hit tab on the keyboard, it jumps to the next field on the form.

Can anyone help me?

thanks

Adam
