Chapter24_CreateSilverlightProject

Hi Rod
I am unable to create a new silverlight project (as per page 408 Figure 24.1).
In the "New Project" folder, all I can see on the left side is "Visual C#". There is no Silverlight - only Visual C#.
Have I missed a step?
How do I get Silverlight to appear?

I have Windows 8.1 and downloaded free MS Visual C# 210 Express.
Is there a later free version of MS Visual C# ???? Express available?

I am looking at writing an application for phones.

Regards

Hi Wendel,

Microsoft keeps moving things around so it depends on the version you have installed. I think you want Express 2013 for Windows, which you can download here:

http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/pr...xpress-vs.aspx

It may not be listed as Silverlight in that version, either. You should probably either work on Windows Store apps or Windows Phone apps.

Unless you want to work on web apps. In that case, download Express 2013 for Web instead.

Everything will look a bit different from what's in the book, although the XAML code and things like how styles and templates work should be more or less the same.
