Default Limit duplicates

I am a new user to SharePoint. I have created a custom list and I have a column that will allow duplicates, however I want to limit the number of duplicate entries. Is this possible? My list is being used as a schedule, The calendar view did not work for what we needed. I want to limit the number of appointments to 4 per hour per day.
