Default SQL Server developer edition

Can I use SQL Server (SQL Server 2000) developer edition to connect SQL Server database residing on my web hosting company? OR which version of SQL Server I should use? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to assuming your web hosting company supports SQL enterprise management connections over the internet.
