Default How to create a new team project?

We have VS2005 Team Edition for Software Developers. I am trying to setup a new Team project so that me and my colleague can collaborate. I have gone through a few MSDN articles. It says we need to create a Team Foundation server. How do we do it? Can we still collaborate eventhough we dont have the server?

Thank you
 Hemanth.
