sdi126 is correct: You can use VS2008 to edit ASP programs...and you can even get "syntax coloring" and code completion to help you...but you can't *RUN* the ASP pages by way of VS2008.

You need a web server. If you have an XP Professional or Vista Home Premium (or above) machine, you can set up IIS as a "personal web server" and it will work just fine.

Don't worry about error messages from VS2008. They are most likely incorrect interpretations of your code as ASP.NET code.
