Default I need a good beginner book

Hello:

I have Imar's excellent Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 in C# and VB.

I now need another beginner book for building windows form applications (not web programs) which uses Visual Studio 2008.

Can anyone recommend such a book? There are so many different topics out there that I don't know which way to go.

What I want to do is build a distributable windows application which works with some data files for stock prices, etc. It would use that data in calculations, store those calculations in the program and update the calculations daily as the daily data prices updated. I'm not sure if I need a beginner book on C#, on SQL, Linq, or some other? I built such a program years ago using VB6 and dao but now want to use the new technology, controls and capabilities that come with Visual Studio 2008. I am back to square one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rachel
