Are you running against IIS or the built-in development server? both installed
Sure, but that's not what I meant. The problem can occur at various levels such as a failed IIS installation, a failed VS installation, an incorrect machine.config file, incorrect information in your own web.config file and so on. By understanding where the error occurs, and whether this is a design time or a run time issue, and if the issue applies to all your sites, including new ones or just the one you're working on right now, really helps.

Anyway, did you recently install something called the Page Inspector? It's part of the VS 2011 preview for developers but might cause issues with VS 2010: http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&h...n%3D1.0.0.0%22

Also, did you check the web.config file for references to the fil that cannot be found?

I still do not understand why I cannot find [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].
It might be located in something called Wow64 or something like that on 64 Bit machines. However, this is irrelevant in this case; you'll need to fix the error at its root by fixing the invalid file reference.

Hope this helps,

Imar
