Default ongoing SQL problems

In Visual Studio 2012 I have the SQL Server instance as (LocalDB)|V11.0. This incidentally works fine.

In VWD 2010 I have SQL Server instance showing as just SQLEXPRESS.

Also it might be worth pointing out that when I connect to a database in SQL Server Management Studio it appears to connect to ..\SQLEXPRESS(SQL Server 11.03128 - MIKESPC\..

I am wondering that because I have SQL Server 2012 as well SQL Server 2008 R2 on my PC this is the root cause of the problem and that somehow VWD 2010 and SQL Server Management are attempting to use SQL Server 2012. Maybe it would be best to uninstall the SQL Server 2012 ?
