Default Installing IIS on Windows XP Professional

Hi all, I'd be grateful for your help.

I installed IIS on XP Pro SP2 and the installation completed without any problems.

However, there doesn't seem to be any web services running. The computer name pings OK, the \inetpub folder is there (but it doesn't seem complete, there is no documentation, no iishelp subfolder, etc.) and no services displayed in the iis management console.

Do I have to explicitly create a default local host? The help at microsoft.com seems to suggest that, once installed as an additional component, a default process will run automatically, which I can then configure. But so far there is nothing to configure.

I am logged in as administrator, already running a peer to peer network successfully, can ping the computer name from another computer. Everything seems fine.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Gary
