Default Database Server Transition

I moved the database that VS2005 automatically generates to the web host's SQL Server 2005. I then redefined the connection string to point to the new server location and I have no problem accessing any of the tables there. However the membership/roles provider still uses the old database when I try to do things like create/edit a user's profile. Basically, if MS wrote the class the controls it; it doesn't work. I would have thought the connection string would suffice, but apparently not. In "Professional ASP.NET 2.0 (special edition)" on Page 735, the author says the db is created automatically for you when it's required in the App_Data folder. That's nice and all, but how do I tell it to stop using the stupid thing and use mine instead; which btw is simply a restore of a backup I did of the existing one? TIA
