access thread: Printing labels

Message #1 by "Monica Remedios" <mrwarrior2001@h...> on Mon, 10 Jun 2002 15:52:34
Hello all,

I am generating labels from a table, and one of the field in that table,
contains a field that shows the number of labels that I need for that
particular record. The problem is that I can only generate one label per
record.

Is there a way to get access to read the number_of_labels field and
generate the labels the way I need them?

Please help.

Thanks,

The only way I know how to do this is through code. If you build a temp
table and then, through a loop, add the number of records and associated
data to the table the number of times that matches you number of labels
field you can then bind a report for the labels to the temp table and
print the correct number of labels.

You could also create an associated table that has a link to the primary
table but has the link as many times as the labels you need. Then you can
produce a query that will have the information for the label duplicated
that number of times: Example:

tblLabelCounts
FieldID

tblLabelCounts has the following data entered
1
1
1
1
2
2
2
3
4
4

tblLabelInfo
FieldID
ItemName
ItemAddress
ItemCSZ

tblLabelInfo has the following data entered
1 Item1 111 First Street First, MN 45676
2 Item2 222 Second Ave Second, MN 57686
3 Item3 333 Third Road Third, NB 34567
4 Item4 444 Fourth Court Fourth, MI 47568

The select query would then be as follows:

SELECT * FROM tblLabelInfo INNER JOIN tblLabelCounts ON
tblLabelInfo.FieldID = tblLabelCounts.FieldID

Thanks,

Amy
