access thread: Duplex printing and one group to each sheet

Message #1 by "Jeff" <janfnord@o...> on Thu, 13 Jun 2002 22:49:35
Access 2000

I need to print a report to a duplex printer and make shure that the sheet
of paper is ejected after each group. As a group can need 1 to 4 pages, I
need to eject the paper or making the number of pages printed for each
group an even number of pages.

Preferably I would like the report to print w/o extra ejects or pages when
printing on a non-duplex printer.

I know how to find the numer of pages that a group will need (using
calculations in group footer), so I just need a solution to get the 'extra
page' added when I need it.

Thanks for all the help I get

Hi Jeff,

I had the exact same problem a while back. We couldn't find a coding
solution, so in the end I just extended the length of the report (ie the
white space after all the controls) so that it always took 4 pages to print
(by trial and error).

So as long as the controls (most were set to CanGrow) didn't expand to take
up more than four pages then there was no problem.

Of course this was only a work around. In your situation, you may not need
exactly 4 pages (eg 2,6,8 etc), in which case this work-around won't
suffice.

Perhaps someone may have another solution??

Cheers,
Andrew

I have also had this situation but to solve it I found it best to just
print one group at a time using a loop and the form filter property. Of
course, here in lies the problem, it depends on how large the report is
and how fast it processes that will determine whether this will work for
your application. I have found that even on very long reports with lots of
groups this was still ok performance wise.

Thanks,

Amy
