asp_databases thread: ADODB.Connection-Fehler '800a0e7a' (ADO Connection Error)

Message #1 by "M. Vögeli" <marco.voegeli@m...> on Mon, 24 Jul 2000 15:4:59
I have created an online-store with ms-97-access-databses (*.mdb)

On my server iis 4.0 it functions. I'm using de

microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0 to connect. But on my customer's

server it does not function. I get the error message:

ADODB.Connection-Fehler '800a0e7a'

ADO konnte die angegebene Datenquelle nicht finden.

(ado was not able to find the data-source)4

/cgi-bin/shop_diagramma/db.inc, Zeile 21

so I have tried to connect with an dsn-less odbc-driver.

That functioned, but the field names of the access-database-table

were not right??? But they were. So my internet service provider

don't know much about iis. So could you tell me what can be

wrong on the server?

thanks for your help.

Your customers server is most likely using a different JET.OLEDB dll

version.

Ask them to update to version 4.0 - MDAC_TYP Version 2.5 will update

the jet dll's to version 4.0

Have you ever see the error:

error 'abcdef00'

The relevant code was not found

?

How about you post some code that you are using, and let us look?

Cheers

Ken

Hello Ken

No, i have never seen this error. What do you mean with

"How about you post some code that you are using, and let us look?"

Should I send you some ASP-Code? That would be no problem...

Tell me.

bye

Marco

Post it on the list, Marco. Always post as much information on the list as

you can about a problem. That way, there's more chance of getting an answer

- or at least, a useful one :-) .

Hi,

The "error" I was talking about means - "we can't help you because the

relevant code is not available for us to look at".

When I said "Post some code" it means cut and paste the relevant code that

is causing problems and "post" (send) it to the list.

Sorry for the confusion.

Cheers

Ken

Message #7 by "M. Vögeli" <marco.voegeli@m...> on Tue, 25 Jul 2000 12:19:45
Hello together

Here the code I used in an include in each asp-file which uses

database-connection:

<!-- #include file="adovbs.inc" -->

<%

Dim dbc

dim dbk

dim dbp

Dim strConn

Dim strpath

dim strconn2

dim strpath2

set dbc = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")

dbc.Provider="Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0"

dbc.Open server.MapPath("/cgi-bin/shop_diagramma") & "\db-user.mdb"

set dbp = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")

dbp.Provider="Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0"

dbp.Open server.MapPath("/cgi-bin/shop_diagramma") & "\db-products.mdb"

%>

So, what I should tell is that I got a note, to update

Microsoft Data Access Components to version 2.5.

This is downloadable on microsoft homepage, costless. I just was

not able to test it till now, because my isp was not there.

But here, I give you the link on which the shop functions:

<a href="http://www.access4u.ch/cgi-bin/shop_diagramma">Shop that

functions</a>

And here the other (my customer's) server, which does not function:

<a href="http://www.diagramma.ch/cgi-bin/shop_diagramma">Shop that does not

function</a>

Best regards

Marco
