aspdotnet_website_programming thread: MSDE database server name and login

Message #1 by "Jay Semel" <ysemel@h...> on Wed, 8 May 2002 20:46:09
I have a pretty simple question but I just don't know how to do it -

How do I access the SQL Server installed through MSDE??

I'm not sure if I'm accessing the db incorrectly or if my
username/password are incorrect (I think it's the first case)

Anyway, in the Web Admin, when asked for the server I
enter 'localhost/VSDotNet' where 'VSDotNet' is the name of the instance of
the sql server.

Also, what is the default username/password? sa/"" ??

Note:
I know the server is running b/c I can access it through Enteprise Manager
with NT Authentication

You could try accessing it thru VS.NET by Server Explorer (View -->
Server Explorer, then drill down). In the Server Explorer you'll
probably see two instances of SQL Server if you have both SQLServer
Enterprise and SQLServer DE installed. The default for DE is sa/"" just
like Standard and Enterprise.
Hope this helps,
Robert
