aspdotnet_website_programming thread: upload application without virtual directory

Message #1 by "marcellino" <admin@m...> on Fri, 14 Mar 2003 22:53:24
I want to upload the application to my hosting provider, but i can't
create virtual directories. What do i need to change to make the app.
work without an virtual directory.

Current error message:

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as
allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This
error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an
application in IIS

My experience is that someone with admin privs on the server is the only
one that can create the virtual directory. In my case I have had to call
my service provider and they have had to create the directories for me
before I can upload the programs.

I don't know of a way to do otherwise unless you can post your application
to a subdirectory of another application that already is a virtual
directory.

Hope this helps!
