I believe there is a utility that converts code from ASP to PHP. It could be

educational to see the difference in code and debug it when the conversion

doesn't go as planned. 8-)

If you have the Beginning PHP4 book, on pages 695-696 there is a list of

functions for the Micro$oft SQL Server. Of course, everyone seems to encourage

the use of MySQL instead.

What is the "whihc" web server?

Servers: IIS, PWS or Xitami work fine.

Database: Just about anything! Php has native support for all the big

databases as well as ODBC. Most PHP users use MySQL (it's free! and leaves

Access in the dust!)

At the end of the day PHP can work with just about anything and do just

about anything on just about any platform (that's opensource for you)

Duncan

Dear Friend,

Hi,

I too have just started php about a week back using the same config as u

have.

Well the answer to your question could be like this

Use I I S 5.0

Any database will do.(I would prefer either Access 2000 or MySql for

starters)

I have a question for you.

Have u configured PHP as per win2k requirements and assigning the right

ISAPI dlls for your web server.

If not ...

Then first make sure this is working and then get started on php.

All the Best

Happy Coding

Anil Mahadev
